What is Portfolio?

noun

1.	flat case for documents: a large flat case for carrying documents such as maps, photographs, or drawings
2.	portfolio contents: the contents of a portfolio, especially when they represent somebody's creative work

Portfolio is a collection of student work that shows their learning growth and achievement. Portfolio is a proof that will help student to assess their selves. Portfolio needs a good strategy especially in determining the standard and assessment criteria.  

How to assess Portfolio?

1. Determining the assessment criteria based on student and teacher agreement at the beginning of the teaching and learning process.
2. Apply the assessment criteria constantly.
3. The result of assessment will be used to determine the next goal of teaching and learning process.
4. This kind of assessment should be done regularly and continuously.

The strength and the weakness of Portfolio

Strength	Weakness
It’s used to show student development in learning process.	It needs a long time (because it is a process)
It will help student to develop their creativity process.	Teacher must be able to make a good standard in assessing (research based criteria)
It will help to identify student strength and weakness.
It will show their ability.	Teacher must be consistent and wise
It can be an authentic report.	Some time it spends a lot of money
It can help teacher to determine the next step of teaching and learning process.	It can be subjective
It can be a tool of teacher-student-parent communication.	Teacher must be creative (deep thought)

My Idea: 

I like this kind of assessment... because it will more respect somebody's ideas and creativities. :)
